Please find attached the Notice of Race and Entry Form for the 10th Laser SB3 UK National Championships! The Laser SB3 class has come a long way since the first ever National Championships that was held in 2002 at Warsash Sailing Club! The 2002 Nationals was won by Paul Lovejoy, Mike Budd and Robert Greenhalgh.
 
Since the World Championships in May, Laser SB3 activity in the UK has been quiet, so I hope that we will have a bumper turn out for the National Championships!

2011 Inland Championships Sailing Instructions

The first Class event of 2011 will be the SB3 Inland Championship to be held at Rutland Sailing Club over the Easter weekend, Friday 22 to Sunday 24th April.  This is also the first event of the 2011 Travellers’ Series for the Class. 

The format will be 10 races in total – 9 for the Inland Champion, plus a one-off Ultimate Test race for the fastest lap.  There are planned to be 3 races on Friday, 4 Saturday and 3 Sunday.  For many of you, you will be able to arrive on Friday morning and be back home early on Sunday evening.

Prizes will include boat products from www.marineaglaze.com.

Launching and mooring will be free, and launching will be assisted – you can leave your outboard motors behind. 

Over the winter the Club has extended its pontoons by 30 metres (to 60 m), so there will be lots of room alongside to load up.  Bring your berthing lines/fenders as well as mooring lines.

For those of you heading for the Torquay Open before the World Champs event, and who may want to leave their boats at the Club, arrangements may be made for this but see later updates on the Class forum.

There will be a Class social on Saturday night, after dinner, and accommodation is available in the Clubhouse at very reasonable rates.  See Programme and Info for details.

Parking for Worlds
For those who are heading for the Torquay Open before Worlds (30 April – 2 May) and want to leave their boat at Rutland, to pick it put on their way down that week, then that will be OK.  They should confirm arrangements with Triff on: triffitts@btinternet.com
 
For those who are heading later to the Worlds or Pre-Worlds (starting 12 or 16 May) and want to leave their boat at Rutland then special arrangements need to be made in the Rutland area, as there is a very large event at the Club.  Please contact Triff first so that he can make arrangements: triffitts@btinternet.com
 
Mooring
The Club has just had its pontoons fully extended and renewed.  So if the overnight winds are calm then it may be possible to leave the boats alongside pontoons overnight, rather than on moorings.  So you will be able to just walk on in the morning!  So be sure to bring fenders and berthing lines, as well as mooring lines.

This year Cowes Week competitors have 2 berthing options, walk ashore in Shepards Wharf or on a Harbour Mooring at the entrance to Cowes and the Medina River.

This year, class bookings at Shepards Wharf must be made, and paid for before the end of May. Bookings should be made by completing the booking form below and returning to Katie Ashworth, by Friday 28th May. Katie will then collate all mooring bookings on behalf of the SB3 Class Association. Any mooring requirements after Friday 28th May should be made directly with Shepards Wharf Marina.

Following the success of the 2009 Inland Championships at Rutland Sailing Club we are delighted to announce the entry details for the 2010 event which will be held at Rutland Sailing Club 2nd – 4th April 2010 (Good Friday – Easter Sunday!)

The first warning signal is at 1pm on Friday and you should be off the water by 3pm n Sunday. For those on the Hamble, Rutland is less than 3 hours away, so you can leave home on Friday morning and be back for Sunday dinner!

Nine races are schedules for the Championships (3-4-2 per day). There will also be an additional one off short “Ultimate Test Race” which will be on a different format, with separate prizes. This is not part of the Championship series.

There will be a Fleet Dinner (£11 per person) plus a entertainment with £200.00 worth of prizes donated by Gill International.

Entry is only £65 per boat if received by 29th March. There is a late entry fee.

Launching will be free and will be assisted by volunteers. And leave your outboards at home, you can’t use them on Rutland Water!

This event was greatly enjoyed by all last year, so be there!
